Oregon HLA: History
Our association was founded by a small group of concerned practice managers in Oregon, seeking to learn from one another in support of excellence of the medical practice management profession. In 1989, the association took a more formal structure and was incorporated in Oregon. Today, this thriving association includes more than 200 healthcare leaders from all areas of the state who rely on Oregon HLA to serve as their resource for information, education, exchange of ideas, and industry contacts so that they can provide quality management and leadership to their physicians and staff, making an impact on the delivery of healthcare in Oregon.
Previously affiliated with a national brand for 35 years, our membership voted in the fall of 2024 to rename our association and continue in the commitment of our mission, values and vision under our current assocaition name: Oregon Healthcare Leaders Association (Oregon HLA).
We operate as a 501c6 non-profit, incorporated in the state of Oregon. In the tradition under which our association was founded, we continue to be a member driven and member led association. Oregon HLA Board of Directors are volunteers who work in healthcare administration and management everyday... just like you!
Oregon HLA's diverse membership is comprised of executives, administrators, managers, supervisors, faculty, students, and other healthcare professionals representing practices of all sizes and specialties. These practices can range from solo, group, and rural practices to university-based practices and multi-specialty clinics.
